PUWER Risk Assessments

PUWER 98 (Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998)

Since 1998, employers have been required to carry out risk assessments and meet certain standards for equipment used in their workplaces. Many employers try to carry out PUWER risk assessments themselves or just assume their equipment meets requirements, but meeting regulations can be a lengthy and confusing process if attempted without help, and it may land you in legal trouble if you don’t give PUWER the proper attention.

What’s more, you don’t want any accidents or mishaps on your conscience if you’ve fallen short of regulations. Put your mind at ease and save yourself a headache – leave it to our experienced team! We’ve been helping employers effortlessly meet guidelines for two decades now and we know PUWER regulations inside out and front to back.

Contact us today, or give us a call, and book your PUWER risk assessment.

PUWER Applies to Everyone

You may think that you don’t need to worry about meeting PUWER if you don’t use any heavy machinery, but these regulations also apply to appliances, apparatuses, tools, and installations – basically, any item used in the workplace!

PUWER requires machinery safety audits to be carried out at regular intervals, but you may also need a PUWER risk assessment when:

  • New machinery is installed
  • Existing machinery is moved
  • Equipment is exposed to conditions that cause deterioration
  • Machinery is passed on or acquired from another employer
  • Exceptional circumstances jeopardise the safety of equipment

We can support your safety operations by working closely with your personnel and by hosting informative training seminars. These can be held at your premises, at our training facility, or at a venue of your choice – it’s up to you!

Leave it to us

Alternatively, we can take care of everything for you. As part of our services, we provide a comprehensive report alongside our safety inspections which outlines all the potential risks and hazards we’ve identified, and walks you through how to comfortably adapt to new safety operations.

EHSR

(Essential Health and Safety Requirements)

In addition to PUWER, there are various general Health & Safety standards that have to be upheld in any workplace. These are particularly important if your personnel regularly deal with heavy machinery, and it’s always best to be extra careful and get a second opinion to make sure they aren’t being exposed to unnecessary dangers.

Professional support and lasting guidance

At ST&L, we can support you by ensuring you have all the necessary safety strategies, designs and documents in place for any individual machine or complex assembly. Plus, we can help you produce files like the TCF (Technical Construction File) and EC Declaration of Conformity, and we’re authorized to apply the CE mark.

We can take care of all these worries for you and ensure your workplace operates at its optimal level in terms of both safety and productivity. Plus, we can hold all your relevant information for 10 years and build familiarity with your facility so that repeat inspections and evaluations become simpler and easier every time.
